REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT OUR ITEMS AND ABOUT THEIR CONDITION.
Thank you for your interest in our listing! We're glad you're curious
enough to ask further questions, and hope that this "FAQ" is of some help.
Most of our listings are for "one of a kind" items - original art that has
been manually created by an individual, passed through a number of generations of hands, and
finally, typically after decades or even centuries of display and/or storage,
has found its way into our hands and thence to us. Unlike
most "used" items whose condition is typically "works" or "doesn't work," our
items run the gamut from pristine to damaged, repaired, chipped, faded, crinkled, folded,
repainted, etc. Perversely, sometimes our items are more valuable
precisely because of these apparent "defects" which tend to bear witness to their
authenticity. (Of course, sometimes damage is just damage.) We do
our best to describe the condition of our items, and to specifically point out
by word and photograph anything we (in our professional opinion) consider unusual or untoward
about an item.
HOW DO WE HELP YOU ?
- Because we cannot take photomicrographs of every square millimetre of
each item, we encourage potential customers to bring specific concerns to
our attention - we will take additional photos on request if we feel that
they will elucidate useful information for your buying decision.
- Because our description is, perforce, a matter of our expert opinion
(your mileage may vary), we stand behind it with a money-back guarantee
(see our Terms Of Sale at http://www.suityourself.org/TermsOfSale.html )
- But, because there are only so many hours in a day, and we have
literally thousands of items listed for sale, we have to ask a certain
minimum of cooperation, help, and understanding from you, our potential
customer.
HOW CAN YOU HELP YOURSELF ?
- First, and most important: Please read the whole description
thoroughly, and scrutinize all the photographs as carefully as you can.
We are careful to document the item with an eye toward customer questions,
and you would be surprised at how many questions we get that have actually
been answered in so many words in the text of the auction. Perhaps
yours has been.
- Next, consider both your time and ours. With thousands of diverse
items listed for sale, we have to prioritize inquiries, especially those that
require significant research time, and most especially those that ask
extremely detailed questions about very inexpensive items. If you are
considering a substantial purchase of an expensive and fragile item, it is
in our mutual interest to get it right the first time, and we will spare no
effort to make you comfortable with any additional information we can
provide. On the other hand, do you really need an essay about a $10
postcard? As much as we would like to wax lyrical about the
photography technique used on a 1920's Riviera shoreline or discuss the
swimsuit fashion, we need the time to add items to our stores and maybe even
sleep and eat. Considering the low cost and the return guarantee, is
it really worth the agony of extensive consideration and correspondence?
Buy it - you'll like it! And if you really don't, return it.
- For general questions about art, i.e., not questions specific to the
item we are selling, please try to research your question on the web. We simply
don't have the time to provide tutorials (beyond the FAQs on this web site).
We will try to add general info to this web site as time allows, but sadly
it rarely does.
HOW CAN YOU HELP YOUR FELLOW BUYERS ?
We don't know everything. Not only are we a little fuzzy about the
beginning and end of the Universe and that green stuff in the refrigerator
(which is also fuzzy), we don't even know everything about our own items!
If you are very familiar with one of them and have spotted a serious error or
omission in our description, please let us know. We'll be happy to
make a correction. The accumulated knowledge and expertise of our customers
never ceases to amaze us. Please consider using yours to benefit your
fellow buyers.
If you have read this FAQ and still have a question about an item, by all means email us and we'll do our best to help you.
Please be sure to indicate the ITEM NUMBER and TITLE in your email.
